The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

Now, before we dive in, let’s address the age-old debate - is The Nightmare Before Christmas a Christmas movie or a Halloween movie? Well, frankly, it doesn’t matter because we firmly believe that it’s a timeless masterpiece for any season.

Picture this: the Pumpkin King himself, Jack Skellington, stuck in the same-old, same-old routines of Halloween Town. He gets that itch of something new and decides to venture into the wondrous world of Christmas Town. And guess what? We’re just as amazed as he is when we tag along on his adventure.

From its stop-motion and characters to the iconic memorable songs that linger in our heads days after, The Nightmare Before Christmas is the perfect blend of Spooky Halloween vibes and Christmas spirit. The movie’s message of self discovery and embracing change truly resonates with us and even now, 30 years later we still have a lot of love for this movie.

Jack Skellington’s journey in this movie reminds us to stay true to ourselves, making The Nightmare Before Christmas a movie that we will remain a fan favourite for all seasons.

The Haunted Mansion (2003)

When real estate agent Jim Evers (played by Eddie Murphy) and his family decide to take a vacation, they end up staying at a super-creepy mansion. Tasked with trying to sell the spooky residence, Jim and his family soon discover that it’s haunted by Master Gracey and that escaping from the haunted grounds is no easy feat.

When the ever-optimistic real estate whiz, Jim Evers (played by Eddie Murphy) decides to take his family on a vacation, they unknowingly check into the creepiest mansion ever.

It’s not your typical listing though; this place is haunted and boasts Master Gracey as its ghostly tenant.

As the Evers family struggles with living with their unexpected supernatural guests, they quickly realise that getting out of this haunted mansion isn’t just a walk in the park - it’s more like a roller coaster through the paranormal!

We just HAD to include The Haunted Mansion as one of our favourite Disney Halloween movies. How could we not? The Haunted Mansion is like riding the Disney park attraction from the comfort of our own sofa! From Eddie Murphy’s hilarious antics, the eerie yet enchanting mansion, and the ghostly hijinks - it’s a wild ride that brings the spirit of Halloween to life (pun intended).

Plus, it’s the perfect reminder that even in the creepiest of situations, family unity and a dash of humour can conquer all.

Hocus Pocus (1993)

AMUCK, AMUCK, AMUCK!

The Sanderson sisters are basically Halloween royalty in our book - which I’m sure you’d agree.

Max, the cool older brother (Omri Katz), his sassy sister, Dani (Thora Birch), and their buddy Allison (Vinessa Shaw), decide to check out an abandoned house. No biggie, right? Well, they accidentally unleash a trio of wicked witches - Winifred, Sarah, and Mary Sanderson (Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy).

But, here’s the twist - it’s not just a spooky meet and greet. The kids find themselves in a race against time to swipe the witches’ spellbook and prevent the Sanderson sisters from gaining eternal life.

Hocus Pocus is our Halloween love potion, and here’s why it has us under its spell. The Sanderson sisters, with their iconic antics, scream Halloween for us, and of course, they are the ultimate squad goals. From the witty humour, enchanting spells, and  of course, Thackery Binx , Hocus Pocus will forever remain a timeless classic in our eyes.

Decades later, we’re still lighting the black flame candle, eager to revisit Salem and the Sanderson sisters every Halloween!

Halloween Town (1998)

Marnie, Sophie, and Dylan are just your average kids until they discover that their mom is secretly a magical witch. Talk about a supernatural family secret! But the real fun begins when Marnie stumbles upon her own magical abilities and takes the ultimate leap of faith.

Marnie defies the rules, sneaking out to follow her grandmother (played by the fantastic Debbie Reynolds) to a place as enchanting as a cauldron of candy - Halloweentown!

From its quirky characters to talking skeleton taxi drivers, Halloweentown takes us on an adventure that we all secretly dream about - discovering a hidden world full of magic, monsters, and mischief. Plus, it’s a celebration of being unique and embracing our own special powers. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of that world?!

Hocus Pocus 2 (2022)

The Sanderson Sisters have returned, 29 years following the ill-fated lighting of the Black Flame Candle, and they're once more causing mayhem in Salem. "Hocus Pocus 2" has arrived, and it's the eagerly awaited sequel to the Halloween classic we all adore!

After 29 long years, the Sanderson Sisters have risen again, courtesy of an ill-fated Black Flame Candle lighting, and they’re up to their old tricks again in Salem. It was the highly anticipated sequel to everyone’s beloved Halloween classic - and we still can’t believe that we have been treated to Hocus Pocus 2!

So, whether you're lighting a black flame candle, revisiting the spooktacular world of Halloween Town, or dancing with the Sanderson Sisters, these Disney Halloween movies are timeless treasures that continue to ignite our Halloween spirit year after year.
