World Book Day is nearly here!
Despite the current pandemic, World Book Day is still going ahead! This year, World Book Day will take place on the 4th March 2021.
Things may feel a little different this year with most children staying at home and not being in school, but there are still plenty of ways to get involved and celebrate World Book Day at home or wherever you are!
Spending just 10 minutes a day reading with your children can make a huge difference on their lives.
There are plenty of ideas and resources for families to use to get involved in this fun nationwide event and it is most definitely something fun to do at home and virtually! Ideas and resources can be found on the World Book Day website.
What is World Book Day?
World Book Day is an annual event that takes place in nurseries and schools every year to celebrate everything to do with books and reading. Children of all ages come together to celebrate their love of reading and get the chance to dress up as their favourite literary character on the day.
The aim of the event is to encourage more children to discover the pleasures of books and reading by providing them with the opportunity to have a book of their own. The World Book Day organisation makes sure every child in the UK and Ireland has a book of their own.
For World Book Day this year, the World Book Day organisation will be working with schools and nurseries to distribute £1 tokens with a new single-use digital version that can be printed at home or displayed on a phone. You can register for the digital token now and can be used from Thursday 18th February to Saturday 28th March. You can find out more details over on the World Book Day website.
