Staying in with your family this Grinchmas
With lockdown 2.0, tier systems and colder weather pending, staying in with our families sounds like the perfect set up this Christmas season. This year has been very different for all of us, so it’s important to hold on tight to your family’s annual traditions or use the festive season to create new ones.
As it’s officially the festive season, the time has come to get cosy and watch all our favourite Christmas movies. At Vanilla Underground, one of our all-time favourite Christmas stories has got to be How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
In case you didn’t know OR have been living under a rock and haven’t watched The Grinch, the Dr. Suess classic tells the story of a green, revenge-seeking Grinch who plans to ruin Christmas for all of the residents of Whoville, only to have his heart changed by a young girl’s generous holiday spirit.
The Grinch Timeline:
1957 – How the Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss – the book was first published.
1966 – The animated original television special titled ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas!’ – featuring the voice of Boris Karloff as The Grinch.
2000 – Live-action movie ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’ starring Jim Carrey as The Grinch.
2018 – Animated adaptation called ‘The Grinch’ – featuring Benedict Cumberbatch as The Grinch alongside other famous voices: Rashida Jones, Kenan Thompson, Angela Lansbury, and Pharrell Williams.

The live-action adaptation of the Dr Seuss story ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’ starring Jim Carrey first premiered in November 2000 making a staggering £263m at the global box office. The iconic live-action version gave the Grinch an interesting backstory and made all of us want to go to Whoville!
