Our December Movie Watchlist! 📽️🍿🎄

The Christmas holidays are upon us, and there's some cosy festive features to keep us warm.

Firm favourites like Home Alone, The Santa Clause, Elf and The Grinch always make an appearance on our screens every year, but after you've watched all of them for about the 100th time, it's time to try something new!

With the ongoing rise of streaming platforms, we now have an overwhelming amount of Christmas content to work our way through with Netflix, Prime Video, Disney + and Apple TV all releasing new festive films for 2023.

Well what can we expect? There's no doubt about it that we can expect the familiar cheesy, family-friendly fare you often get with Christmas movies, and of course, lots of laughs.

If you're looking for something to do outside the cosiness of your home, why not take a trip to your local cinema? In this blog, we've also included some new movies that we think make a great addition to your December movie watchlist!

So, without further ado, here are just some of the new Christmas movies you should have on your December movie watchist this festive season.

Best.Christmas.Ever!

Every year, Jackie (played by Brandy Norwood) sends out a Christmas newsletter to all her friends, boasting of her perfect family, enraging former university friend Charlotte (played by Heather Graham), who's sceptical that anyone's life could be so idyllic. But when a twist of fate lands Charlotte on Jackie's doorstep days before Christmas, she vows to get to the truth.

Family Switch

Now we all love a good body-switch movie. Who could forget Freaky Friday or the absolute classic that is 13 going on 30?! WELL, Jennifer Garner is back. Almost 20 years after swapping bodies in 13 Going on 30, she's back in a new Netflix Christmas movie, in which a rare cosmic event causes her and her husband to switch bodies with their teenage kids, days before Christmas. The family is forced to help each other navigate landing a promotion, college interview, record deal and football tryout...yikes!

Family Switch  is available to stream now on Netflix.

Candy Cane Lane

Eddie Murphy stars in this Christmas comedy adventure about a man on a mission to win his neighbourhood's annual Christmas home-decoration contest. After making a deal with an elf named Peppa (played by Jillian Bell), the elf brings to life the "12 Days of Christmas", which causes problems for the whole town. (Sounds like it's overtaken by a lot of birds, if the lyrics to the holiday classic are anything to go by).

Candy Cane Lane is available to stream now on Amazon Prime Video.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid Christmas: Cabin Fever

Fans of the Wimpy Kid book series can watch a new, full-length animated adaptation of Greg Heffley's misfortunes. This time, Greg's holiday takes a turn for the worse when he gets snowed in with his family over vacation, and he has to learn how to survive the cabin fever.

Following Asha's journey, Asha and Star confront the rule of Rosas, King Magnifico (played by Chris Pine) to save her community and prove that when the will of one courageous human connects with the magic of the stars, wondrous things can happen.

When it comes to sidekicks, nobody does adorable sidekicks like Disney. Get ready to meet Star and Valentino! Think it's safe to say we're going to be seeing a lot more of these guys everywhere.
