Meet the Characters of SpongeBob SquarePants!

Ready to get to know Nickelodeon's most iconic characters? 

If you didn't know already, it's pretty hard not to love SpongeBob!

Ever since we were introduced to the iconic sponge back in 1999 (we can't quite believe it either!), we've been obsessed with watching, laughing and singing along with the residents of Bikini Bottom. From SpongeBob's pet snail, Gary to his best friend Patrick Star.. the starfish, we just love them all!

With so much to love from the show, we wanted to dig a little deeper into getting to know the characters we have grown to love so much. 

So grab your Krabby Patties and meet the characters of SpongeBob SquarePants! 

SpongeBob SquarePants

Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? It's SpongeBob SquarePants of course! SpongeBob is an eternal optimist who loves jellyfishing, karate and his job as a fry cook at a fast-food restaurant called the Krusty Krab (which he is exceptionally skilled at).

SpongeBob attends Mrs. Puff's Boating School and his greatest dream in life is to receive his boating license. He loves to hang out with his best friend, Patrick and LOVES to have fun! With a happy-go-lucky personality, SpongeBob is a childish (but responsible), joyful, and clumsy sea sponge. 

Patrick Star 

Patrick is SpongeBob's dim-witted, but loveable best friend. Patrick lives under a rock in the underway city of Bikini Bottom and is neighbours to SpongeBob and Squidward. Patrick and SpongeBob both tend to bother Squidward; though they do it unknowingly and have good intentions. 

Despite his low intelligence, Patrick is loyal and occasionally insightful. Alongside being quite naive and lazy, he enjoys spending time with SpongeBob and will always turn to him when things don't seem right.

Squidward

Squidward is SpongeBob's neighbour and co-worker at the Krusty Krab, who lives in an Easter Island Head. Alongside being sassy and introverted, Squidward is arrogant and pessimistic who sees himself as a talented artist and musician. His favourite hobbies are painting self-portraits and playing the clarinet. 

Sandy Cheeks 

Explorer, thrill-seeker, and scientist. What can't this adventurous Texan do?! Sandy Cheeks is a squirrel from Texas who lives in an air-filled glass treedome to breathe underwater. Having come from the state of Texas, she has a Southern drawl and a love for rodeos. Sandy works as a scientist and builds both her treedome and air suit and helmet herself.

Sandy is also a member of the Gal Pals along with Karen Plankton, Mrs.Puff, and Pearl.

Gary The Snail 

Gary is SpongeBob’s pet snail who does not speak but instead communicates through cat-like meows. Gary is surprisingly smart and often serves a voice of reason for his owner. With meowing like a cat, Gary has similar mannerisms to the real-world cat. From fetching to doing tricks, he also has some dog-like abilities. 

Mr. Eugene Krabs

Mr. Krabs is SpongeBob's boss and the greedy owner of the Krusty Krab. Eugene Krabs is a single father who lives in an anchor with his teenage whale daughter, Pearl. Oh and he's also obsessed with collecting money! Eugene Krabs is so obsessed with money that he goes to great lengths to increase his wealth, to the point where he occasionally treats money better than his daughter and his employees. Mr. Krabs' only business competition comes from the Chum Bucket, a failing restaurant run by Sheldon Plankton and his wife Karen.

Plankton

Plankton is a tiny green copepod who is a skilled inventor with a Napoleon complex. He is Mr. Krabs' arch-nemesis and is the mischievous owner of the Chum Bucket (a failed rival restaurant to the Krusty Krab). Plankton and his wife Karen are constantly scheming to steal the Krabby Patty secret formula that makes the Krusty Krab so successful. 

Mrs.Puff

Mrs. Puff is SpongeBob's teacher at boarding school, where students drive boats like underwater cars. She is a patient, elderly pufferfish who wears a sailor suit and is usually exasperated by SpongeBob's reckless driving.

Pearl Krabs

Pearl Krabs is Mr. Krabs' sixteen year old popular sperm whale and the heir to his restaurant and riches. As a high schooler, Pearl does not yet have a job at the family business and instead works at the mall.

Karen Plankton

Karen Plankton is Plankton's waterproof computer who lives in the Chum Bucket laboratory. She provides Plankton with his evil plans to run the Krusty Krab out of business. Her system is built into most of Plankton's inventions.
