Favourite Female Friendships to Celebrate Galentine's Day! 💕
Happy Galentine's Day!
Move over Valentine's Day, February 13th is all about celebrating your love for your girls!
Celebrated the day before Valentine's Day, Galentine's Day is a day for ladies to celebrate other ladies and their friendships.
The new "holiday" began 10 years ago when the fictional Leslie Knope in Parks and Recreation introduced it to the world.
"Oh, it's only the best day of the year. Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style. Ladies celebrating ladies."
The real love stories that deserve talking about are none other than the female friendships that we have watched blossom over the years.
There are so many iconic female friendships in TV and film, from Monica, Rachel & Phoebe in Friends to the iconic frenemies of the Upper East Side, Blair and Serena in Gossip Girl.
Relationships come and go, but like the Spice Girls once said, friendships never end.
There's no specific way to celebrate Galentine's Day. Whether you choose to go out or have a girls night, as long as you're with your girlfriends, then you're doing Galentine's Day right.
To celebrate Galentine's Day, we're celebrating the power of female friendships and rounded up some of our favourite on screen female friendships.
Mia and Lilly - The Princess Diaries
Every normal high school student who finds out she's a princess needs a best friend to stick by her side as she navigates her new life and royal embarrassing slip-ups. A friend that can help you navigate fake friends and etiquette classes, is a friend for life!
Tibby, Bridget, Carmen & Lea - The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants
Now we all know how difficult it is to find a good-fitting pair of jeans, so to find a pair that also fits your three best friends perfectly is some kind of magic. Long distance is no issue for these girls and their friendship. No matter how far apart they are from each other, their bond goes from strength to strength whilst they navigate new adventures on their own. #friendshipgoals
Cher, Tai & Dionne - Clueless
Navigating drivers tests, crushes, and concussions together, Cher, Tai, and Dionne make up the ultimate girl squad! Together, the three balance each other out as they take on all the typical teenage 'firsts'.
Lucy, Mimi and Kit - Crossroads
Did you know that road trips are proven to help mend friendships? Well, that may not be the case for ALL friendships but is the case in this movie for Lucy, Mimi & Kit. After drifting apart in high school, the three childhood friends reunite over a time capsule and set off on a cross-country road trip together.
Jess & Cece - New Girl
Jess and Cece share a bond that many friendships should aspire to. Friends since they were kids, Jess and Cece are a great example of opposites attracting. Despite their differences, the dynamic between them is hard to match and no matter what, they always have each other's backs. Their friendship is the perfect blend of mutual support and encouragement. There really is something special about a childhood friendship that can evolve with age, and Jess and Cece are the perfect example of that.
Monica, Rachel & Phoebe - Friends
Name a more iconic duo. These girls were truly there for each other. Monica, Rachel, and Phoebe loved and supported each other whilst making us laugh for a decade. Monica, Rachel, and Phoebe are living proof that you and your girlfriends can be extremely different but still share a common love: one for each other.
Blair Waldorf and Serena van der Woodsen - Gossip Girl
These BFFs brought the term "frenemies" to our TV screens, but at the end of the day, they really were soul sisters. Through heartbreak, laughter, and countless "XOXO" blasts, Blair and Serena embodied BFF goals.
Aria, Spencer, Emilly, and Hanna - Pretty Little Liars
The only upside of being stalked and tortured by A is that it allowed four girls to form a tight-knit support group as they attempted to cope with their terrifying circumstances together.
