Disney Pixar 'Soul' Movie Review
Ever wondered where your passion, your dreams and your interests come from?
What is it that makes you... YOU?
On December 25th 2020, Disney Pixar exclusively released their latest animation movie “Soul”.
With the film being out for just over a month now, we thought we would talk about our thoughts on the new movie (without giving too much away!).
Disney Pixar’s Soul takes you on a journey through the streets of New York to the cosmic realms where you discover the answers to life’s most important questions.
We see Jamie Foxx star as a jazz musician caught in a world that human souls pass through on their way into and out of their life.
Joe Gardner (Jamie Foxx) has a near-death experience and gets stuck in the afterlife, contemplating his choices and regretting the existence that he mostly took for granted.
Soul is Pixars first feature with a predominantly black cast and a black lead actor (played by the fantastic Jamie Foxx).
Whilst watching this film, we found ourselves really connecting with Jamie Foxx’s character Joe Gardner and 'Twenty Two' who is played by Tina Fey.
Packed with narrative and visual imagination, it still amazes us how much animation has come on over the years. Whilst watching Soul, some scenes looked so real that you would not think you were watching an animation feature. So, hats off to all of the animators that made this film happen.
This movie helped us remember that life itself is a blessing, even when it doesn’t go as we originally planned.
From questioning what makes you, you to living everyday like it's your last, there are several messages in this movie to take away and accomplish in real life.
Soul asks you to examine what is truly important in your life. You never know what your spark might be, until suddenly you do and it might not be what you think OR it turns out to be something you have had all along.
One thing for sure that we will be taking away from this movie, is that life may not be what you expect but it is beautiful and your soul is what makes you unique.
Soul is bold, funny and heartwarming and will definitely pull at your heart strings.
We will most definitely look at life differently from now on. Thank you Disney Pixar.
