A Friends reunion is finally happening!

Back in February 2020, the reunion of Monica Geller, Rachel Green, Phoebe Buffay, Ross Geller, Chandler Bing and Joey Tribbiani was officially announced by the Friends cast in multiple Instagram posts, and ever since we found out that a Friends reunion was officially happening, we haven’t been able to contain our excitement!

After years of questioning if we would ever see the fab friends back together, the reunion episode is finally happening! But how much longer do we have to wait?

The Friends reunion was officially announced back in 2020 and was intended to be broadcast back in May for the 25th anniversary of the show. Due to the pandemic, the filming for the one-off episode was delayed until August, before production was delayed for a second time with “no new target date".

Fast forward to 2021 and we have an update for you. We now have a new target date!!!!

Thanks to David Schwimmer aka Ross Geller, he has given fans want they have been longing to hear… an update about what is actually going on!!

In a recent interview with SiriusXM, David told host Andy Cohen: “It’s happening. Actually, in a little over a month I’m heading out to LA. So finally, I mean, we figured out a way to film it safely and there’s going to be a portion of it that we filmed outside because of, you know, for safety protocols.”

So now that we have a little more information on what is happening with the Friends reunion, details of the TV show are still unknown.

For those of you who was hoping for a continuation of the popular 90’s sitcom, we're sorry to disappoint. The one-off special was never intended to be a reboot.

What we do know is that it’s said to be an hour-long unscripted special with interviews with the cast. The main cast will reunite, revisit the set alongside sharing behind the scenes footage, but they won’t be portraying their original characters - only appearing as themselves. So don’t go getting your hopes for some awkward Chandler Bing jokes!

Ben Winston, who currently produces James Corden’s Late Late Show, took to Instagram to confirm that he is directing and producing the reunion.

The Friends reunion is set to broadcast on the HBO max streaming service later this year. How exciting!
